Before James Denton was known for being that hot fix-it man on Desperate Housewives he brilliantly portrayed a power-hungry, smarmy, sarcastic, death-faking, thumbless, murderous sociopath who had a penchant for eating liver a la Asian-woman-tortured-in-his-closet-and-then-murdered. To me, Mr. Lyle was the single most interesting character on The Pretender because he was never a one-dimensional villain (despite what many fans seem to think).
